Shirley Boomer works as the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit liaison at Harry Balfour School in Grande Prairie. Her family are from Mistawasis First Nation in Saskatchewan (close to Prince Albert). Her creative talents include loom beading, hoop weaving, salish weaving, felting, shield making and natural dyes. She has some experience in button blanket making.
